Recap: First Meeting

The first ever Tinker meeting was a huge success! Thank you to all who participated. If you weren’t able to make it to the RAILS building, here is a recap of what happened:

First we broke up into small groups and discussed what everyone wants and expects from Tinker. We agreed that Tinker should 1) Provide recommendations and resources for libraries with established technology programming as well as those who are just beginning 2) Serve as a platform for emerging ideas 3) Provide a common space to ask questions, work around barriers, and share our successes as well as our failures.

After we talked about our ideas in small groups, we came back together to present two short demonstrations: 1) Toontastic – a cool app that allows you to narrate and animate your own story and 2) Light painting – a fun project at the intersection of art and technology.

Then the fun began as everyone had the opportunity to test both of these programs. Here are some of the results. Great work!
